Delta Hospital Ming Courtyard

Delta Hospital Ming Courtyard

Weddles produced 4 high quality unique courtyard designs for one of our longest running Chinese clients, Delta Hospital in Shanghai.  We produced a ‘Pan Asia’ Garden, ‘Zen’ Garden, ‘Freestyle’ Garden, and ‘Ming’ Garden.

The client selected the ‘Ming’ design as pictured. This design is based on a simplified form ‘Ming Style’ Suzhou Gardens. It consists of most key classic garden elements, such as pavilion, lily pond, stone hill, waterfall, etc, which can be found in the Private Scholar Humble Administrators Garden and Liu Garden. The arrangement of all garden elements are carefully considered to ensure high quality views from surrounding vistas. This garden would be a good example of how to transfer the ‘spirit’ of traditional Classic Suzhou Garden into modern design.

Delta Hospital

Hospitals can be stressful environments for patients, visitors and staff. Outdoor space provides tranquility and calm and gives opportunities for escape from stress. Be it a green view from a window or the possibility of going outdoors, landscapes give recovering patients something to aim for.

By using plants which are attractive to butterflies and birds we bring wildlife into the hospital grounds.People will enjoy watching the birds and Insects, and In doing so will become more Involved with the environment. Landscape isn’t just for viewing. We want to encourage as many people as possible to enjoy the landscape and interact with it,  bringing it to life. An ‘inclusive’ landscape has value for all users, from the most dependant to the most able. A hospital has patients of all users,
