Planning Approval for Restoration of Firbeck Hall

Weddles supported the application for restoration of the historic Firbeck Hall, Rotherham. Weddles provided Landscape Design, Ecology and Tree Survey services to the project.

Built in 1594 by William West during the reign of Queen Elizabeth the First, it is a fine example of an Elizabethan Manor House and Grade Two Listed Building. In 1934 it was refurbished in the Art Deco style as a country club and had a heated outdoor swimming pool, 18 hole golf course and airstrip. During the Second World War it became a convalescent home for injured miners, and later as a rehabilitation home for those suffering from industrial injuries. Since 1990 it fell into disrepair. The project has recently been granted planning approval with conditions (RMBC Planning Approval), which will save it from dereliction.
