IKEA Sheffield – Progress

The new IKEA near Meadowhall in Sheffield is progressing at a rapid pace. In just a couple of months half of the building frame and floors have been constructed. Cladding and roofing has just commenced. Weddles have been involved with this project since assisting with the planning application back in 2013. Following a long planning process permission was finally granted in January 2015.

Since then the Tinsley bypass has been constructed with road widening and improvements at a number of major junctions in the area. Remediation of the old factory Betafence factory site then started in 2016. We have just completed the soft landscape work drawings and specification tender package and this is now out to tender. For those in the Sheffield the nearest IKEA has been Leeds, Nottingham or Manchester. It’s been a long time coming but we’re nearly there!
