Moorside Nuclear Power Station

Weddles were responsible for all Sellafield projects from 1977 to 2000. This year NuGen launched an International Design Competition for a landscape scheme, including significant earth bunds and mounds. The foreground waste screen mounds are our original concept for the redevelopment of Windscale.

Our competition proposals are a field of Drumlin’s of varying sizes that provide an interesting yet naturally occurring landform. Within this framework the existing landscape, ecology and habitats can be protected and enhanced. Sustainable drainage and flood risk alleviation will be incorporated along with the creation of the new Moorside Tarn to attract migrating birds.
