Weddles has been working at DRAX and other power station for over 40 years, which has enabled us to become national experts on industrial restoration with specialism on land and particle stabilisation. We have developed best practices in horticultural and arboricultural on difficult industrialist reclamation.

2014As a office full of climbers, we were delighted to be approached to put forward a proposal to improve the Bosigran Climbers hut in Penzance. We produced a robust design that sat well into the stunning landscape above Bosigran Crag. It complements the beautiful granite Count House building. This is the only climbing hut in Cornwall, but its situation is perfect for climbing on the North Coast. Read more →

2014Weddles trip to China in August included a visit to the recently completed Hangzhou Residential development. Weddles have been working closely with the developers to produce a high quality landscape masterplan for the shared private garden. The design and implementation has proven to be a great success, as now all 1229 residential units have been sold. The gardens are in a European classical style and based on the language of curves, linking a series of individual ‘jewel’ themed semi-private garden rooms. Read more →

2014This week, three more members of the Weddles team became members of the Chartered Institute of Horticulturists. Neil Northrop, Lu Zhong and Chris Braine are now all full MCIHort members. Mike Browell, Principle, is one of the founding members of this Institute, and has been a member for 25 years . 2014We were delighted to hear this week that we have been shortlisted for the complete redesign of the main entrance and northern part of Shanghai Botanical Gardens. This will include a world class orchid house at 9000m2, which will become the biggest in the world.

2014We have just completed our latest residential sensory garden in Sheffield. Over the last 30 years we have built up our in house knowledge though an extensive range of residential / care home / hospital sensory gardens. We have condensed much of this knowledge into this lastest small residential scheme to great effect. The private Sheffield client said she was delighted with how the full sensory garden and wheelchair accessibility has been incorporated into a cost effect residential landscape design. To aid with client understanding of the scheme we also produced a simple and cost effective visualisations, which incorporates the accuracy of computer design and the flexibility of hand drawing.

2014Weddle Landscape Design have recently completed the landscape design concept for the ‘Shanghai Fish’ in Nanqiao New City, Shanghai. Weddles were engaged to produce a landscape design concept for the newly built 36ha ‘fish’ framework, implemented by the designers of the Palm Tree Island, Dubai. The concepts promotes Ecological Design, Clean Water and Healthy Living for this district of Shanghai.
