We’re excited to see that the New Era Square project has started onsite – the excavators are out clearing the old slabs and foundations. This site has been derelict for many years so we’re pleased to see things progressing. We’re working with New Era Developments, Hadfield Cawkwell Davidson Architects and Bowmer & Kirkland Contractor.
Sheffield City Council have approved an application to build 88 new of homes in Sheffield’s Green Belt. The site is the currently derelict former Dyson Refractories ceramics factory on Stopes Road, Stannington

With September gone the 2015 Bat Activity Survey period has come to a close but don’t forget that we can still undertake Preliminary Bat Roost Assessments and Phase 1 Habitat Surveys at any time of the year.

Weddles have been working closely with Coda Planning in Bolsterstone, at the edge of the Peak District on a single-storey four-bedroom property eco-friendly house built into the hillside. Weddles initially undertook Tree , Ecology and Visual Impact Assessments to determine development constraints. We then produced a integrated landscape scheme which ensures the eco-friendly house blends seamlessly into this sensitive environment, whilst boosting biodiversity of the area.

Chris Braine has recently passed his professional Landscape Architecture exams, and now becomes the fourth Chartered Landscape Architect at Weddles.
Mike and Lu have just returned from a very successful two week visit to China, in which they presented material for a number of new projects, and checking in on current Weddles projects around Shanghai. A visit to the almost-complete Weddles-designed Nanjing Mountain was a highlight. This mammoth £400 million project is due for completion near the end of 2015. The Pagoda central to the scheme is to become the new home to Buddha’s parietal-bone relic – a artifact of unparalleled religious significance to Buddhism . The survey season for the dawn and dusk bat surveys has now begun in Sheffield and South Yorkshire. The survey period is likely to conclude in September. If you are submitting a planning application and bats, evidence of bat activity or habitat value is present at your site, you have a 5 month window in which to have this survey carried out. Survey season is busy, so please get in touch asap if you would like us to quote for this survey.
